PowerSpec is a resource for complete powertrain spec’ing for Cummins engines in the on-highway market. PowerSpec supports all on-highway Cummins engines in North America including diesel and natural gas. Capability is expanding globally with support for on-highway products in Australia with intention to expand in additional regions for 2021 and beyond.
PowerSpec consists of two complimentary products, a web application and PC based software. Both products support spec’ing, but each have unique functions and purposes.
Cummins PowerSpec Web
PowerSpec Web is an accessible website resource for complete powertrain spec’ing for Cummins engines in the on-highway market. Access is free and easy, even from a mobile device. Within the application there are familiar and new functions available to users.
Web functions include Gearing Spec creator and comparison, descriptions of electronic features with video content, and instructions on how to optimize parameter settings. Additional web functions include electronic feature calculators to graphically review how parameter settings will affect operation of the vehicle as well as a Help section to identify the right resource to answer your questions.
Additional functions for PowerSpec Web will be released in 2021.
Cummins PowerSpec PC
The PowerSpec PC version is software that can be downloaded, at no charge, to any PC running Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. PowerSpec PC enables a user to communicate with their Cummins engine to configure electronic features and read engine data. Cummins recommends using an INLINE 7 adapter cable (part number 5299899) for communication. INLINE 7 adapter cables are available for order through your local Cummins or Dealer location. PowerSpec works with most RP1210 compliant adapters and additional supported adapters are listed below.
PowerSpec PC supports Feature Spec, a function allowing a user to configure the electronic features for a Cummins engine and transfer the settings to the Electronic Control Module via a RP1210 compliant adapter.
From PowerSpec PC v9.0, the gearing spec function will no longer allow creation or editing of specs. Please use the gearing spec function in PowerSpec Web to create and edit specs. Existing gearing specs in the PC tool will become read-only. Existing specs will need recreated in PowerSpec Web. RoadRelay and QuickCheck will no longer be supported as well.
Additional supported adapters include:
- INLINE 5
- INLINE 6
- Noregon DLA+
- Noregon DLA+ PLC
- Noregon Wireless
- NEXIQ Technologies USB-Link
- NEXIQ Technologies USB-Link 2
- Dearbon DPA 4

- The use of PowerSpec is supported in North America and Australia only.
- Licensing: PowerSpec does not require a license to connect to a vehicle, read data, or use the gearing calculator. A license is only required to write changes to the adjustable features.

Once you download PowerSpec, the process is simple. Just answer a few basic questions about your vehicle and desired operating mode, and the Vehicle Gearing feature will automatically recommend the optimum gearing for your application. The Engine Features and Parameters tool includes complete explanations of every engine feature and parameter, how these features work and how to get the most out of them. The Trip Information feature allows you to access information such as miles per gallon, miles driven, idle time and more. Fault Code Management allows you to read any fault codes that have been logged, making it easier to get accurate repairs.
